Shannon Larabee, a Colgate student volunteer was featured in the Colgate Maroon News. "Sitting in an ambulance rushing headlong toward the hospital, a patient goes into cardiac arrest. Most people who saw a human fighting for life would stay away from hospitals and emergency rooms for good, but not senior Shannon Larabee."
Colgate Student Jailed for Shooting Threat Posted On Controversial Website
The Mid-York Foundation of Hamilton has presented a grant in the amount of $4,500 to SOMAC to help cover costs of recently aquired Automated External Defibrilators (AED). The check was presented to SOMAC officials by Terry Murphy, foundation President on Saturday Jan. 19th.

Terry Lawrence and Dave Snyder found themselves in the Mid York Weekly for their work at the Earlville Opera House "Move Up" drill. A “Move Up” is when the emergency responders compensate for any hole in coverage by relocating the apparatus. The scenario was that the Earlville Opera House (EOH) was on fire, and the call was sent out to area fire departments for mutual aid. About a dozen departments responded to partake in the drill including Hamilton, Sherburne, Smyrna, Morrisville, Madison, Eaton, Georgetown, Hubbardsville, North Brookfield, DeRuyter and Chittenango. The Fire Police from Earlville and Madison County as well as the Southern Madison Ambulance Corps (SOMAC) were also involved. The full article can be downloaded at The Mid York Weekly's website. May 2007 Doug Johnson and Kyle Spitzfaden were recognized at the annual Midtstate EMS dinner this year. Doug received the ALS Provider of the year award and Kyle the BLS Provider of the Year award.
